My Favorite Things Color Challenge #100

Hey friends!

Today, I’m sharing a card I made using stamps and dies from My Favorite Things. I have a friend getting married this fall and she wanted a personalized card for her father in law to be. She wanted the card to be cooking or pasta related – so of course I went straight for the Recipe for Happiness set!

I’m entering this card into the MFT Color Challenge #100. My blues got a little off when I blended them, but hopefully I still managed to capture the vibe of the color scheme.

I started off by coloring up this adorable chef using Copic markers. Then,Β  I decided he needed to be kind of over the top, so I added a giant stack of pots to make it look like he’d been busy in the kitchen all day. I don’t know about you guys, but this chef totally reminds me of Chef Pisghetti from Curious George LOL! I love him so much!

To get the look of the pots being stacked up, I cut a mask from post it note in the shape of the stamp. I stamped the pot image once, then masked it and stamped again a little higher and crooked. I repeated this until I was happy with the height of my stack. I love how it turned out after I colored it with my Copics and fussy cut it.

I also colored up the little side table, hanging lamp, and book shelf stamps that came from the ‘Our Story’ set. I love how you can combine these totally unrelated sets and get such a fluid scene. So cool!

Next, I needed a background for my kitchen scene, so I grabbed the Small Brick Background and stamped it in Wet Cement ink from Hero Arts. I got out my Clarity Stencil Brushes and used the same Wet Cement ink to brush over the stamp and give a cool tone on tone look to my wall. I cut the background down to size using one of the stitched rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn.

I used washi tape to make the floor and then grabbed my Mini MISTI to stamp out my sentiment. I used VersaMark Ink and then coated the ink with white embossing powder. I heat set it and trimmed it down. I adhered everything to my card front and then popped the whole front panel up on foam tape for a little dimension.

To finish off the card, I added a few Silver Lining Nuvo Crystal Drops. That’s it! Now I’m hungry and craving pasta – what about you? lol!

(I’m also entering this for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge this week!)

Hugs and love,
