Brutus Monroe Team Hop – Emboss Like a Boss

Hey friends!

It’s another happy Wednesday, which means it’s time for the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team Hop! Hooray! This week’s theme is Emboss Like a Boss.

First, I want to share a little information about the Embossing Powder of the Month subscription over at Brutus Monroe. This subscription works just like the others offered on the site – you pay a monthly fee for your brand new product and it’s delivered right to your door without you having to do another thing! For the Embossing Powder of the Month, you get a brand new Embossing Powder delivered to your door for just $8 per month (and that includes the shipping, y’all!). Wow! If you’re interested in subscribing, you can sign up HERE.

Okay, now let’s  get into the card I made for today’s hop! To get things started, I die cut the gorgeous ‘thanks’ die from Brutus Monroe. This is actually Christopher’s handwriting – isn’t that crazy!? So pretty! Once I had my word die cut, I grabbed my Gilded Embossing Powder because it’s my absolute favorite of all time. Seriously. I used Embossing Ink to get my die cut nice and wet, then poured the Gilded powder all over. I heat set it with my Wagner Heat Tool and let it cool. Here’s the magic touch – I coated the die cut in Embossing Ink and Gilded powder again and heat set it all one more time. This gave me TWO layers of embossing powder on my die cut. It is like liquid gold – it’s the most gorgeous thing ever!

I knew I needed a background to go with my die cut word, but I didn’t want to stop embossing – after all, this hop IS called Emboss Like a BOSS, right? More embossing powder it is! I snagged the Kaleidoscope Stencil and the Sandcastle Embossing Powder. I taped the stencil down to my cardstock and pressed the Embossing Ink pad right through the holes of the stencil. This coated the open space of my cardstock with the ink.

I carefully removed the stencil and dumped my Sandcastle powder over the whole background. Then, I heat set it! I thought about inking the white space, but I actually really like the way it looks with the bright white poking out.

I added some Nuvo Drops in Gloss – White for some added interest and grabbed some vellum. My background was a little (okay, a lot) too busy for my ‘thanks’ die, so the vellum helps mute the background for me. I cut a piece down to size and wrapped the edges around the back of my card front so I wouldn’t have to glue the front at all. Then, I adhered my ‘thanks’ directly to the vellum.

To finish off the card, I tied a little rustic jute twine around the top of my card and that’s it! I absolutely love the way the gold, neutral, and white work together to make such a rustic, but fancy looking card! That’s a win in my book.

Be sure to hop along and see what everyone else has created for this week’s hop. You won’t be disappointed!
