Hey guys!
I’m back on The Hedgehog Hollow blog today to share a card using the Distress Oxide Ink Smooshing technique. This is one of my all time favorite techniques and I find myself going back to it over and over again.

To get started, I grabbed a piece of white cardstock and cut it down to 4.25×5.5. On a piece of thin, clear plastic (mine came from some old stamp packaging) I smooshed a little Distress Oxide ink in Spun Sugar. I spritzed the ink with a bit of water with my Distress Sprayer and let the ink ‘bead up’ a little. I flipped the piece of plastic and ‘smooshed’ the ink directly on to my cardstock. You can experiment with different placement of the plastic, bending it slightly, only applying or pushing down on certain parts – each of these will change the way your ink looks on the paper.

Once I was happy with the Spun Sugar, I moved on to Picked Raspberry. I did the same process with this ink color and I love the layered look of these two colors. I set my panel aside to dry for a bit and moved on to my sentiment.

I used Letter It Embossing Ink to stamp out the ‘I ❤ You’ stamp from the December 2019 box. I stamped the ink with my Mini MISTI on to black cardstock. I poured Ranger White Embossing Powder onto the ink and tapped off the excess. I melted the powder with my heat tool and trimmed the panel down. I added some cute little fish tails on the outer edges as well.

Once my card panel was dry, I grabbed the two tree images from the December 2019 box and stamped them in black ink. I did stamp them a few times to make sure my images were nice and crisp over the Distress Oxide inks. I mounted my sentiment strip on my card panel with foam tape and adhered the panel to a white A2 card base. That finished off the card!

I hope you guys love this card as much as I do! Be sure to let me know what you think in the comments and if this inspires you to create a card of your own, be sure to tag us on social media ( @acarddayswork @thehedgehoghollow ) so we can see what you’re up to. We love seeing your projects!
