Brutus Monroe – Team Hop: Micro Pearls

Hey Crafty Friends!

Today is another Team Hop for the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team. This week’s theme is Micro Pearls! These itty bitty balls of pretty make a big impact on your cards. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve created.

To start off – I used the Lace Stencil (this is the Stencil of the Month for March!) and some Translucent Embossing Paste on black card stock. I didn’t let it dry – instead, I immediately poured on the Micro Pearls in various colors. I used the Bold set for my project. I used three of the colors from the set to add splashes of different colors across my card panel. I set this aside to dry and believe me, this was the hardest part!

Once everything was dry, I felt like I wanted to add a coat of sealer to be sure that none of my pearls fell off while the card was in the mail. You certainly don’t need to do this, but I was feeling adventurous. This is actually where things went a little weird. I used a clear sealer, but when it dried, my black card stock had turned sort of white and cloudy. I considered starting over at this point, but I decided that even though it wasn’t the look I was originally going for – it was still kind of cool! So I kept on going.

I mounted the panel on foam tape and adhered it to a white A2 card base. I cut a strip of black card stock and heat embossed ‘love your face’ from Super Sentimental. I trimmed the bottom to look like a little banner and adhered this to my card front. I also tied some pretty pink twine around the top and added an adorable little bow to finish off the card.

What do you think about this one? Should I have started over after my sealer mishap or do you think the cloudy effect is neat? Drop me a comment to let me know! Now let’s see what the rest of the team has to share:
