Altenew Educator Certification Program | + Christmas Video Hop

Hey guys!

I’m participating in a fun inspirational hop today featuring lots of great Christmas cards. If you’re a procrastinator like me, you haven’t finished (or maybe even started) your holiday cards – get a snack ready and get hopping! You can watch the video below or HERE on YouTube.

I have been working through the Altenew Academy course, ‘Impressive Heat Embossing,’ so I figured this was the perfect time to incorporate some of the ideas into my project. I loved all of the different suggestions for ways to use heat embossing. Sometimes we forget about some of the basic techniques that pack a big punch!

To create this card, I started with a piece of white cardstock. I used clear embossing ink and coated most of an A2 sized panel. I did leave some area free of ink so I could hold on to it while I did my heat embossing. I coated the sticky ink with a beautiful gold embossing powder and used my heat tool to melt it. I love to do a second layer of embossing powder to help give a beautiful, smooth appearance to my embossing.

Once my heat embossing was done, I used the Caps Bold Alphabet Die to cut out the letters NOEL. I decided these needed a red background, so I grabbed some red cardstock and used some dark red ink to darken up the edges. I used the Scrapbook.com domed foam blending tool for this.

I used the Bold Blossom stamp set to heat emboss some gorgeous foliage on a piece of vellum as well. I love the look of this! I used the same gold embossing powder and fussy cut these. I arranged them on my card and adhered them when I was happy with the placement. I also attached my letters to the card at this point as well.

To finish off the card, I added some Distress Spray Stain splatters in Tarnished Brass and I love the way that turned out. I mounted the card panel on a white A2 sized card base and that completed my project.

I hope you love today’s project. If you’re looking for more tips and tricks on heat embossing, you can definitely check out the course over on Altenew Academy!

Hugs and love,
