Altenew Educator Certification Program | Beautiful Details

Hey friends!

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve shared a post for the Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP), so I figured it was time to hop back on the train! I have just completed the Beautiful Details course and created a project inspired by it.

I loved the idea of a monochromatic card, so that’s what I decided to create. This course had lots of tips and tricks on making the little details into the big details; In other words – how to pack a big punch with something small or subtle. I went with the monochromatic color palette to help emphasize that you don’t need bold colors to have a beautiful card.

To start my card, I used the Simply the Best stamp set and my Original MISTI to stamp out a background. I used the layering images and a single color of ink to achieve my look. I stamped off the ink once on a piece of scrap paper before applying the ink to my card panel. This gave me a shade lighter for my base image. Then, I stamped the second layer in regular strength ink, and followed it up with a double stamping of the third and final layer. I love that you can do layered stamping with just one ink pad in this way!

After my background was stamped, I used a warm grey alcohol marker to color in the white space on my background. Then, I picked out a sentiment. I chose ‘wow! you look absolutely GORGEOUS’ because who wouldn’t want to receive that card!? I heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock and trimmed it down. I adhered it to my card panel and mounted the card panel to a white A2 sized card base. I added a few clear sequins for a little sparkle and that completed my card!

I hope this card inspires you to create something beautiful today. Be sure to tag me on social media ( @acarddayswork ) if you do – I’d love to see what you’re working on!

Hugs and love,
