The Hedgehog Hollow | September 2019 Box

Hey friends!

I am so thrilled to be on The Hedgehog Hollow blog today for the first time! I have just joined the team and I couldn’t be more excited to be here with you. I’m sharing a mixed media scrapbook layout, so let’s check it out. I’ve got instructions and a process video below (or HERE on YouTube) if you’d like to check it out.

To get started, I grabbed some pretty patterned paper from Prima and ripped it to give it a distressed look. I adhered it to a white 12×12 piece of cardstock and then spread white gesso around the edges with a Nuvo Spatula.

Using the gorgeous new images in the Corners & Feathers stamp from the September 2019 box, I did some second generation stamping in grey ink. I wanted to give the effect that the feathers were sort of floating down the page and the second generation stamping was a great effect for this!

Next, I pulled out the mixed media and got messy. I used paint and texture paste through stencils to add interest and dimension to my layout. I also watered down the paints and used them to splatter my background.

I layered some of the patterned paper behind my photo and decided to stamp a few of the Feather Borders on the patterned paper and fussy cut them as well. These added awesome embellishments to build up the focal point around my photo.

I went to town adding the rest of my embellishments including flowers, puffy stickers, thread, and sentiment strips and finished things off with a title ‘on your way.’ This photo was actually taken at my oldest son’s Preschool Graduation this past spring, so I chose lots of encouraging words and sentiments to match all my dreams and hopes for his future.

I hope you loved this first project and I’ll definitely be seeing you again next week for some cardmaking projects as well.

Hugs and love,
