Hey friends!
It’s time for another Wednesday edition of the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team blog hop! Hooray! This week’s hop features the newest release of Brutus Monroe and Unity Stamp Co. red rubber background stamps. These stamps give the best impressions and I’m always so impressed with the quality.
To start off my card, I went with the Emboss Resist technique. I treated my white card stock with an anti-static powder tool and I used my Original MISTI to stamp out the Floral Tapestry background with Embossing Ink. I wasn’t paying close attention when I did this step and found out when I poured my embossing powder on that I’d missed part of the image when I stamped it. Rather than starting over, I decided to make my card work around the missing piece.
I heat set my embossing powder and then did some ink blending with Distress Oxide inks. I used Mustard Seed and Salty Ocean – I love how you get that green in there where the colors overlap without having to pull out a third color. So awesome!
Once my background was blended, I used a clean paper towel to buff off the ink from my heat embossed areas. This makes the white pattern of the stamp stand out more against the vibrant ink blending. Then, I cut the panel down to 3.75in x 5in.
I cut a piece of black card stock to the same width of 5 inches. I laid the ‘thanks’ die on the card stock and used a pencil to trace around the edge of the die and then cut it out. I learned this technique from Daniel – it’s so cool! I only cut off the top portion so that my sentiment would be grounded by that black panel at the bottom. Then I die cut the ‘thanks’ from white card stock and layered it right on top. I love the way this looks.
I heat embossed a tiny sentiment (‘you’re amazing’) from Super Sentimental and popped it up on a little foam tape. I mounted my card front onto an A2 card base with a layer of foam in between and added a few clear sequins to finish it off.
Let’s check out what the rest of the team has created using their Unity collaboration background stamps!
