Brutus Monroe – Hello Friend Card Featuring ‘Lace Stencil’

Hey friends!

Today, I’m sharing an elegant ‘just because’ card featuring the March Stencil of the Month – ‘Lace.’ This stencil is so elegant and versatile. I absolutely love all of the inspiration I’ve seen with this already.

For my card, I decided to do a little ink blending with Distress Inks. I chose Antique Linen, Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot. I layered the Lace stencil over a piece of white card stock and secured it using Purple Tape. As I was blending, I made sure not to be too ‘perfect’ around the edges because I wanted the pattern to fade out rather than cover the whole area.

Once my ink blending was done, I grabbed a few coordinating Nuvo Crystal Drops. I used Antique Rose, Crushed Grape, and Ebony Black. I put a little of each color on my craft mat and spritzed it with water. I used a paintbrush to mix the drops with the water, keeping each color separate, and then tapped the brush over my card stock to apply some awesome splatters. I did this for each of the colors and then set the panel aside to dry.

Next, I grabbed the ‘hello’ sentiment die from Brutus Monroe and cut it five times from some light grey card stock. I find myself reaching for this die over and over again, so it’s definitely a keeper in my stash! I layered each of the hello dies on top of each other with craft glue so I had a nice and thick dimensional sentiment for my card. I adhered this to my background once it was dry.

I grabbed the ‘Lucky You’ stamp set and chose the ‘you got this my friend’ sentiment. I trimmed off the ‘you got this’ portion and kept ‘my friend.’ You’ll actually see the ‘you got this’ piece in my card for next week, so keep those eyes peeled! I used a piece of black card stock and heat embossed the sentiment with Alabaster Embossing Powder and Embossing Ink.

I decided the sentiment need a little something extra, so I applied Glossy Accents over the whole sentiment and let it dry. When it was almost dry, I placed the ‘my friend’ sentiment strip right on top and the Glossy Accents acted as an adhesive. That sentiment isn’t going anywhere!

I popped the card up on foam tape for dimension and mounted the card front to an A2 sized card base in grey. To finish it off, I added a few Metallic Silver sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. I hope you love this card as much as I do! I don’t know if I’ll be able to part with this one. 🙂

Hugs and love,
