Brutus Monroe – Valentine’s Day Card + Love Bug

Hey friends!

I’m excited to be on the Brutus Monroe blog today with a fun ( and super pink!) Valentine’s Day card featuring stamps from the January Inspiration Box, Love Bug. The box has sold out, but fear not! You can still snag the stamp set HERE.

For this card, I wanted to go full-on goopy love and pink all over. I started off by stamping a few of the heart images and the ‘xo’ stamp all over my card stock. I used Embossing Ink for this and then used Alabaster Embossing Powder to heat set it. Once my embossing powder was dry, I did some ink blending with Distress Oxides to get a pretty ombre effect.

Next, I used my anti static powder tool and stamped out the ‘you make my heart flutter’ sentiment in Embossing Ink. I used my Mini MISTI for this in case I needed to do any repeat stamping to get perfect coverage. I used Raven Embossing Powder to heat set the sentiment.

I used the adorable pink glitter tape from the Inspiration Box to break up my background. I also used a strip of black card stock for this. I used the XO stamp and heat embossed it twice with Alabaster Embossing Ink.

I stamped out the cute little wasps with Raven Detail Ink and colored them up using Copic markers. I decided to keep my color scheme in tact and colored them in black and pink. I fussy cut them with my Brutus Monroe scissors and popped them up on foam for some dimension. To finish off the card, I added a few of the pretty sequins from the Inspiration Box for a little sparkle.

I love how this turned out. Leave me a comment and tell me if you like ‘traditional’ Valentine’s Day colors or something unexpected for your VDAY cards!

Hugs and love,
