Unity + Brutus Monroe Blog Hop

Today is a special day! The Design Team at Brutus Monroe is hopping along with the folks over at Unity Stamp Company for one heck of a show of inspiration and creativity. A brand new set of collaborative rubber background dies have been released and we’re showing them off for the first time today!

My card features the Barn Wall background stamp. These new stamps are branded with both Unity Stamp Company and Brutus Monroe logos – how cool! I really love the rustic, distressed vibe of this stamp.

To start off my card, I did some ink smooshing with Distress Oxides in Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, and Faded Jeans. I swiped the ink directly on to my media mat, then spritzed with water. I plopped my paper right into the ink and water and repeated until I was happy with the results. I let that dry before moving on.

Next, I grabbed the new Barn Wall background stamp and inked it up with Soft Granite ink from Hero Arts. I only had to do one stamp and it was perfect! I also stamped the sentiment from Birds of a Feather in the bottom right corner using Charcoal ink from Hero Arts.

I die cut this gorgeous feather (from the Birds of a Feather Inspiration Box) three times in different colored cardstock. I glued them together at the top using Craft Glue and then tied them together using some rustic jute twine. I adhered the bundle of feathers to my card near the top.

To finish off the card, I added a few stone pearls (also from the Birds of a Feather Inspiration box). I absolutely love the way this came out!

Be sure to hop along and check out all of the amazing inspiration from the Brutus Monroe and Unity Stamp Company design teams. Here’s the hop list for you:

Hugs and love to you all,

Love ❤️ this card. Of course it probably helps that blue is my favorite color! Lol. I love all the hard work you put into this gorgeous card. You had me at “plopped” the paper down! That’s my kinda style. Ok all kidding aside. It’s a very cool card. I really do love it!

LOL! Your comment had me laughing so hard. ‘Plopping’ things down is totally my style. I don’t have the time or patience for the fancier techniques half the time, so quick and imperfect is my jam haha 😀 Hugs to you! ❤

Love how laid back you’re able to describe things. It makes me smile because that’s how I describe and roll. I love the idea of using a soft grey ink over that inking technique. It works so well. Fantastic embellishing!
