MFT 2018 Card Design Superstar #2

Okay friends. Today I am stepping WAY outside my comfort zone and submitting a second card to the My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar contest. So far outside my comfort zone.

I’m entering this card into the Coloring Virtuoso category. I can’t even believe it myself LOL. For this card I tried my very first completely copic colored background (with the assistance of some adorable MFT stamps, of course).

I masked and stamped my viking (Viking) as well as the rocks from my favorite mermaid set (Mermazing). I colored them up with Copic markers and then got started on my background.

This background gave me so much trouble as I really had no clue what to do! If I had it to do over again, I would have left out the dark ‘wave’ lines and just gone with the light on the water from the sun and the white gel pen ‘waves.’ I think that would have looked nicer. But, oh well!

I used a billion Copics for this background (just kidding, I don’t have that many lol), and totally just winged it. I tried to leave lighter areas toward the center to give the effect that the sun was shining on the water. I also tried to make the sky look streaky like a sunset on the horizon. Hopefully I succeeded!

Are you going to step out of your comfort zone and join the competition? I hope you will!

Hugs and love,
