Brutus Monroe Guest Designer

Hey crafty friends!

I am beyond thrilled to be up on the Brutus Monroe blog as a Guest Designer for the very first time today! Eeeeeep!!!

I’m sharing a scrapbook layout with you today that features the ‘Snap’ stamp set. When I saw this set, I just knew I had to have it! I love all the different cameras and the adorable sentiments, too!

I get a little overwhelmed with how large 12 x 12 layouts are, so I decided to go with something smaller. I cut a piece of patterned cardstock down to 6 x 6 and printed off the picture I wanted to use. I print my photos on matte photo paper because I don’t like the glare from regular photo prints.

I grabbed a few other bits of patterned cardstock and a cool printed vellum piece from a paper pad I had on hand and trimmed them down to fit my layout. I layered a small strip of black cardstock behind my patterned piece for a nice contrast.

I grabbed my Versamark ink and my Mini MISTI to help get the position of the stamps just right. I used white embossing powder to heat set one of the camera images and the sentiment ‘Say cheese!’ from the ‘Snap’ stamp set. Once I had my image and sentiment heat embossed, I cut them out in a circle shape. I mounted the vellum circle onto my patterned paper strip with some Multi Medium in the Matte finish. I also wrapped a little baker’s twine in black and white around the top of my patterned strip for a little bit of added interest.

Next, I cut a mat for my photo from black cardstock. I taped my photo to the mat and then drew some dashed white lines along the mat area to brighten up the area a bit. I did a little more heat embossing – I used the ‘remember this’ sentiment on black cardstock and popped it up on foam for dimension. I drew on some itty bitty hearts with a gel pen. I also used a tiny sliver of washi tape to add a pop of color under my sentiment.

To add the last few finishing touches to my layout, I used the ‘snap’ sentiment in both sizes to add some fun interest to a few areas around the layout. I cut a brightly colored camera from the same pack of cardstock I used previously and it fit the theme perfectly! I popped it up on foam tape and then snagged my Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss White to add a few accents. That finished off my layout!

Do you scrapbook? If so, do you feel better making 12 x 12 layouts or something smaller? Be sure to drop a comment and let me know!

Hugs to you all – have a wonderful day!
