Happy SUMMER crafty friends!
Today is the first day of a brand new challenge over at the Papercraft Business Challenge Blog. The theme this month is ‘Summer’ and BOY are there some awesome projects from the Design Team! Be sure to pop over and check out all the inspiration before you get started on your entry.
From the moment I saw the challenge theme, I knew I wanted to incorporate some bright and vibrant colors into my project. What better way to do that than adding a rainbow element!? Rainbows are the best – seriously.
I grabbed an embossing folder from Darice with adorable clouds on it. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss a piece of white cardstock and then got started on my ink blending. I used the following Distress Oxide colors:
I used my mini foam blending tools to spread one color at a time over my embossed cardstock. Once I was happy with my ink blending, I used one of the stitched rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn to give a nice finished look.
Next, I decided to add some stark contrast to my card. I remembered a video I had seen by Kelly Latevola and that definitely inspired my card. I went to my trusty Cricut Explore and made a quick design to fit my needs.
I chose the sentiment ‘SUMMER DAY’ for my black cardstock and then raised it on foam dots for dimension.
I grabbed the ‘From the Heart‘ stamp set from My Favorite Things and pieced together a few different stamps to make the phrase ‘love you like a.’ I white heat embossed this and then ink blended with Twisted Citron over top. I adhered this to my black word panel for the full sentiment ‘love you like a summer day.’ Cute!
To finish off my card, I added a few gorgeous iridescent sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. That’s it for today! Be sure to let me know what you think in the comments and share what inspires you during the summer months.
I’m going to enter this in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week – the theme is Wild Things and I’m playing off the wild and bright colors here!❤️
Big hugs and cool summer thoughts coming your way,
