Hey y’all!
I’m totally on the ‘card challenge’ train this week! I’m squeezing in at the last minute for this past week’s Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. The theme or challenge this time was to use more than one stamp.
Let me start by saying- this card did not turn out at all how I imagined it when I set out to make it. Nevertheless, I thought it was still worth sharing. Not every card we make will be a masterpiece with perfect symmetry and feng shui – and that’s totally okay! Embrace the mistakes and you’ll be much happier – I promise!
To start off my card, I stamped the ‘blessed’ sentiment from Honey Bee Stamps’ ‘Bless Your Heart’ set. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink for this. I love how intense the color is! Next, I grabbed the ‘Zen Bouquet’ stamp set (also from Honey Bee) and stamped it with VersaMark ink. I used clear embossing powder so that it wouldn’t over shadow my ‘blessed’ sentiment and then heat set it.
I grabbed Abandoned Coral and Peacock Feathers distress inks and smooshed them on to my craft mat. I spritzed them with water and used a paintbrush to apply the color to my cardstock. This did not turn out at ALL like I had imagined it would, but that’s alright. We live an we learn, right? 🙂
I stamped two pieces of the buildable sentiments from ‘Bless Your Heart’ on black cardstock and ended up with ‘so blessed to have you in my life.’ I think that’s a great sentiment! I heat set this with white embossing powder from Ranger. To finish off my card, I used the Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh that I’ve been obsessing over lately.
Dash over to the SSS page and join in on the challenge if you haven’t already. You have until 8AM CST on 5/30. Then there will be a new challenge!
I could not agree with you more. My cards rarely turn out how I have envisioned them… But that’s ok!! I think this looks amazing. I love the red with the blue for a little emboss resist. One of my favorite techniques. Thanks for joining us last week for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.
