Today I’m sharing a card I made for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. This week’s theme is ‘masculine,’ so it was the perfect time to make a Father’s Day Card.
I wanted to use my Avery Elle set (‘The Man’) before Father’s Day came and went, so all of my stamps for this card are from that set. I decided I wanted to make this a shaker card, but just one of the beers was too small to be the focus of my card. So, I stamped the beer three times in a line using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Then I used Hero Arts ‘Butter Bar’ ink to fill in the beer with the coordinating stamp. The color is perfect! Next, I stamped the same three beers in a line on a second piece of cardstock (this will be my card front). I used an exacto knife to cut out the inside of each beer so I could see through to the other beers when I laid one panel on top of the other.
I added foam tape (I wish I would have added another layer, because my shaker bits are a bit too bulky and get stuck inside their areas) and a clear piece of plastic to create my window. I didn’t want my shaker bits getting lost, so I actually separated each beer into its own shaker area.
Next, I grabbed the ‘DAD’ stamp and used VersaMark ink to create a background. Once I stamped the image all across the card panel, I used Ranger white embossing powder and heat set it. I used Antique Linen Distress Oxide to add some color to my panel. I also stamped another sentiment on a piece of black cardstock and white heat embossed that as well. I used some black and white twin as well as some large and small clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh to add some additional interest to my card. A plain white card base finished off this card.
I hope you’ll head over to the Simon Says Stamp blog and check out some of the awesome inspiration for this week’s challenge. There are a ton of awesome projects over there!
Hugs and warm wishes,
