BIG News + My First Planner Layout

You guys. My life just got SO much more interesting. Are you dying to know why? Well, I’m glad you asked. 🙂 (lol!)

I recently applied for a position on the Digital Design Team for a super cute company called Craftin Desert Divas (CDD). Heard of them? They have some of the most adorable clear stamps around, sequins, dies, AND as an added bonus, they have a GIANT library of insanely cute digital stamps to choose from. Anyhow, I applied for the position and, you guys, I MADE THE CUT! I am now officially a member of the Craftin Desert Divas Digital Design Team (Say that 5 times fast lol!) I am so incredibly excited and grateful for this amazing opportunity and I cannot wait to see what the future brings.

I was totally inspired to try my hand at a planner layout by another member of the CDD Digital Design Team (DT). Laura posted on her blog and the CDD Gallery yesterday with her cute planner pagecute planner page and I just had to try one for myself. I have actually never done a planner layout before, so this was all new territory for me.

With all that being said, I am sharing my very first Design Team project today. Check out the pictures below and stick around to watch the process video if you have time!

The first thing I did was use Copic Sketch Markers to color this adorable digital stamp, Raking Fall Fun. I am still learning to use my Copics, and I don’t have a huge collection of them yet, so it’s all a big experiment.

Next, I fussy cut the stamp out so I could place him on my layout. After my stamp was ready, I decided that my planner needed a little bit of color, so I used the color palette from the September Mood Board Challenge and went to town. I used 3 Distress Inks – Scattered Straw, Shabby Shutters, and Hickory Smoke. I masked off each little box using low tack tape and applied the distress inks using the small foam blending tool and replacement foam pads. Once all of my inking was done, I used a little strip of washi tape to make it look like my little critter was standing on grass. That’s what the green washi on Laura’s design reminded me of! Then I used Multi Medium Matte with a fine tip applicator to adhere the fox and leaves to my layout.

I also used a stencil I had on hand with the same colors or Distress Ink to apply a tone on tone patter in a few of the columns for some added interest.

I did a little bit of doodling and drew in a ‘weekend’ banner. I’ll be honest- I’m not thrilled with this part and I almost wish I’d left it out, but that’s okay. No success without risks, right? 🙂

I did a little bit of hand lettering down on the bottom right, too. We’ve been having some cool fall weather and it made me so happy to write ‘sweater weather’ on this layout! I added a few white gel pen accents and that finished off my layout!

Here’s a look at the whole week’s layout:

Thanks so much for joining me and if you’ve made it this far, HUGE hugs to you. ❤ I am so excited to be a part of this design team and I am thrilled to see where this road takes me!
